Meet The Team

Tom Farley

Tom is a freelance multimedia journalist currently based in Leeds. With a strong background in travel and motoring Tom is our resident expert for all breakdown cover, car insurance, and travel related news. Having spent 5 years living in Europe Tom has experienced the roads and recovery services of a number of countries, and can vouch for the peace of mind European breakdown cover can bring, especially if like Tom you are behind the wheel of a 1970's VW Beetle. When he's not tinkering with his beloved Beetle Tom enjoys mountain biking, continental lager, and the occasional kick about, not necessarily in that order!

Jonathan Dawes

Jonathan isn't your usual freelance financial journalist, he likes to rock out! We at Compare Now can't quite make the connection between mortgage plans and Iron Maiden but Jonathan can so that’s fine by us! After a brief stint in the city Jonathan turned his attentions to writing about money rather than working with it, and has never looked back. With a keen interest in the bigger, long term money matters Jonathan is our well versed expert when it comes to mortgages and pensions, and crucial developments within those sectors. When he's not crunching numbers Jonathan enjoys playing base guitar with his band, and dabbling in DIY.

Sarah Engle

Based in Berkshire Sarah is a freelance journalist specialising in day to day changes on the financial horizon, and how to make your money work for you. With a background in writing for consumer magazines and websites Sarah writes with the individual in mind. She will be the first to admit she is a bit of a 'money geek', and has made it her personal quest to help people be smarter with their money, and where they spend, save, and borrow it from. When she puts her calculator down Sarah likes to pick up a paintbrush and regularly exhibits her work locally.

Marianne Straker

Marianne has been writing about Insurance products and policies for the past 15 years. She is our current pet, home, and life insurance guru. Insurance can seem puzzling and unnecessary if explained incorrectly, Marianne's aim is to explain the pros, and cons of having cover and making sure you people can make a fully informed decision. When she's not working Marianne likes to go on long country walks with her dogs. Breeding and showing Basset Hounds in her spare time knowing about pet and home insurance comes in very handy!
