Safety of credit cards 'a priority'

Steps to make use of credit cards as safe as possible should be taken by all individuals, an expert has argued.
While things such as chip and pin have become a part of the everyday lives of consumers, more can still be done to promote card security, a spokesperson for UK payments association Apacs has said.
She argued that individuals need to be "mindful" of their cards and should shield keypads when entering pins so that no one else can see.
It is important to remind people of the "simple things" they can do to enhance security with the use of credit cards.
"This goes back to being mindful of your cards, shielding your pin, checking your bank statements - these are all messages we need to take on board," said the spokesperson for Apacs.
Research released in February of this year by CPP found that some 20 per cent of Londoners said they have had their debit or credit cards stolen before.
