Understanding baggage allowance is the key to holiday packing

British holidaymakers need to ensure that they understand baggage allowances before they attempt to pack for their adventure abroad.
Tony Hawks, comedian and bestselling author, said that, for example, British Airways allows for 23 kilos per person, so it is important to make the most of that amount.
He noted that packing is like a strategy, and before tucking away the travel insurance, shorts and flip flops it is important to think how much time is needed to get the suitcases ready "and then add on another hour".
Holidaymakers can save space by stuffing socks and underwear into their shoes, while bulky toiletries can be bought abroad to avoid taking up valuable room in the suitcase.
Despite the temptation to take the whole wardrobe abroad, it is important to only pack what is necessary.
Think about what type of clothing will be needed abroad; will smart items be needed for lavish dinners, or will shorts and a vest suffice for the majority of the holiday?
